Is Death The Day We Are Living For?

Life is beautiful. Death is inevitable. Celebrate both.

-Namita Devidayal, Oleander Girl

Have you ever wondered that why are you living?

Have you ever questioned your existence?

People say that they live to lead a lavish life. No one would ever say that they live for happiness, even if they are poor. This way, we have already died. So, we are absolutely not waiting for Death, for sure. Or are we?

What is the purpose of your life? What are you living up to? What are you expecting will happen tomorrow? Somewhere or the other, deep inside ourselves, we know that one day we eventually have to die, and you might have definitely heard the older, better and wiser people say that one day they have to die, so why not today? It is just that when we are young, we are too enthusiastic about life, about the various adventures it has to offer, and we do not let the topic of death come on our minds. But, it is there, supressed. I’m not writing this because I am depressed or something. But this thought just struck me one day on the Mumbai local. And hence, I am writing about it.

And, by the way, I feel, that Death is not the day we are Living for!

Though I agree that there is a moment in life when all of us have to realize that all of this has to lead to death, but that does not mean that we stop living life, that we stop doing stuff. I feel that it is important to breathe, look around, set goals, drink some wine, dance to the tunes of the music, sing the song and go along. Death is not the day we are looking forward to. Life is all about gathering the experiences as and how we go about life. So that on that day, we have a lot of memories to look back on. So that we feel that WE HAVE LIVED IT. So that all of this – these problems, the suffocation in the air, the pollution in the minds – goes away. So that, we are set free.

I think Death is not the day when we end it all. It is a beginning, all over again.

And it is not something we live for, but we also know that it is an inevitable condition of human life and that is the truth!

“We are a universe pretending to be human. Death is just a minor bump in what we are all really about.”

    1. I completely agree to you. I think, it is the fear of Death, or whatever you may call it, that makes to enjoy life to the fullest!
